mediCAD GmbH has been developing innovative software solutions for medical imaging and surgical planning for over 25 years. What once began with manual procedures is now more precise and efficient than ever before thanks to digital technologies. ‘Today, digital surgical planning is standard, and we are proud to have played an active role in shaping this change,’ says Jörn Seel. The mediCAD software enables doctors to plan surgical procedures precisely, which leads to better treatment outcomes and increased patient safety.

Excellence through modern technologies: The role of 3D and AI

mediCAD uses the latest technologies to optimise medical planning. Jörn Seel is certain that 3D models already makes it possible to analyse patient images very precisely and that new technologies such as artificial intelligence will also have an increasing influence on imaging:

‘It will be possible to generate mass data of even higher quality, for example in the form of doctors’ accumulated expertise that they have gained over decades of surgical planning. This will enable doctors to plan much more precisely and in less time. This not only saves a considerable amount of time, but also makes a decisive contribution to improving quality.’

Entrepreneurship: perseverance and persistence

Jörn Seel believes that holding on to convictions and ideas is a key basis for the company’s success: ‘Success means holding on to ideas, developing them further and investing for the long term. Personnel and capital procurement are crucial, but perseverance is even more important. Entrepreneurship means perseverance.’ mediCAD has often done well with this attitude. For example, it took three years to obtain authorisation for the Chinese market. ‘The regulatory hurdles were enormous, but we proved that we can compete internationally,’ says Jörn Seel. ‘This perseverance has paid off for us.’

Employees: The Be-All and End-All

Recruiting specialists is also a challenge for mediCAD that the company constantly faces: ‘It is crucial to train talented employees, to inspire them for their tasks and to retain them in the company in the long term,’ says the CEO ‘It is important that the employees’ motivation for their work also comes from within. Targeted training and support as well as an appreciative corporate culture are therefore essential.’
